Supporting Korean SMEs in Managing Cross-Border Disputes through Mediation

Expanding into overseas markets and increasing international transactions are key success factors for Korea’s mid-sized companies. Yet, many continue to face challenges in addressing international legal risks and managing cross-border disputes effectively.

To support these companies, SIMC partnered with Jipyong LLC’s International Dispute Resolution Team to organize a special SME session in Seoul during the Seoul ADR Festival on October 27. The programme focused on practical strategies and solutions tailored to the needs of Korean mid-sized enterprises, including a hands-on workshop that allowed participants to directly experience international mediation—one of the most efficient and relationship-preserving forms of alternative dispute resolution (ADR).

As global trade faces rising uncertainty, the session provided valuable insights into how SMEs can prevent and manage international disputes more effectively and cost-efficiently. The strong participation and engagement from attendees reflected the growing recognition of mediation as a flexible and commercially sensible way to resolve cross-border disputes.

SIMC is pleased to have supported this initiative and remains committed to working with partners such as Jipyong LLC to help businesses navigate international disputes and preserve long-term commercial relationships.
