Engaging U.S. Legal and IP Communities: New York and Chicago

In New York and Chicago, SIMC CEO Mr. Chuan Wee Meng contributed to the seminar series "Intellectual Property and International Dispute Resolution – What Every Lawyer and Corporate Counsel Needs to Know," co-organized by Greenberg Traurig LLP, the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, Penn State Dickinson Law, and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS). SIMC CEO, Mr. Chuan Wee Meng, joined a panel of distinguished experts to explore how frontier technologies are reshaping legal frameworks and global business environments. With close to 900 participants across both cities, the series offered practical insights into emerging legal challenges and reaffirmed the importance of cross-border cooperation to support innovation and sustainable growth.

While in the U.S., SIMC participated in a roundtable session as well as connected with fellow dispute resolution institutions to exchange ideas, share perspectives, and explore opportunities for future collaboration. These dialogues underscored a shared commitment to strengthening international partnerships and enhancing access to effective dispute resolution services worldwide.

From New York to Chicago and Los Angeles, the Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC) participated in a series of impactful engagements across the United States, joining leading legal and intellectual property (IP) minds to explore the future of dispute resolution in an era shaped by rapid technological change.

Deepening the Discussion at California International Arbitration Week

In Los Angeles, SIMC participated in California International Arbitration Week, joining a high-level panel titled “Insights on Global IP Cases: A Comparative Analysis of AI-Driven Jurisprudence from the US, Singapore, and Beyond.” The discussion explored landmark AI-related IP cases, such as the Zarya of the Dawn copyright case in the U.S., China’s Li v. Liu ruling, and the globally followed DABUS decisions on AI inventorship. Mr. Chuan Wee Meng joined a distinguished panel including Dr Stanley Lai SC (IPOS), Mr. Yeong Zee Kin (SAL), and Prof. Daryl Lim (Penn State University), moderated by SIAC’s Ms. Adriana Uson. The session highlighted how jurisdictions are navigating uncharted legal terrain, and the role that mediation and arbitration can play in resolving complex, cross-border IP disputes in the age of AI.

SIMC is proud to have been part of these rich conversations, which not only advanced dialogue between jurisdictions but also reinforced the role of mediation as a flexible, future-ready tool for resolving disputes in the global innovation ecosystem.

SIMC’s engagements in the United States reaffirm our mission to promote cross-border mediation as a practical and forward-looking solution in today’s rapidly changing landscape. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our partners at IPOS, SIAC, WIPO, Penn State University, and all participating organizations for their collaboration and insights.
