SIMC – A&S webinar: International mediation as an effective means of dispute resolution during COVID-19

Loading Events

In recent years, international mediation has been attracting a great deal of attention as a means of dispute resolution in international transactions.

International mediation is a procedure for the amicable resolution of disputes by agreement between the parties. It enables the parties to resolve disputes more economically, expeditiously and effectively than international litigation or international arbitration.

The environment for international mediation is evolving rapidly: in September 2020, the Singapore Mediation Convention, which makes it possible to enforce settlement agreements internationally, came into force. On the same day, the Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC) and the Japan International Mediation Center (JIMC-Kyoto) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the JIMC-SIMC Joint COVID-19 Protocol designed to facilitate online dispute resolution during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This webinar will provide participants with the latest practical information on international mediation. Mr. Chuan Wee Meng, CEO of SIMC, will provide an overview of the latest developments in international mediation, and will join a panel discussion by Mr. Tay Yong Seng, Mr. Kohei Murakawa, and Mr. Gai Matsushita, all of whom have extensive experience in the field of international dispute resolution, to provide practical advice on the use of international mediation
